The coastline of Chocó in the Colombian Pacific, is one of those places on earth where nature is still in control. The jungle, a chlorophyll colossus, confronts the sea; great waves with their momentum gathered by whale’s songs and splashes. Here, rain falls hard, and thunder frequently lulls the kids to sleep. People born here are born tough, but serene by their constant contact with nature. Via Photography and Augmented Reality, "POTENTE" reveals fragments of everyday life in this remote region of the world. Although mighty, the area is not invincible, as social and environmental issues can be its Achilles heel. This project is an invitation to discover and learn about this region.

More than 10 augmented reality interactions can be experienced along with the printed book or by visiting www.bogotadc.tv/potente on your computer!

Artists statement:
We are living through a great shift in the way we perceive and relate to our surroundings, as the knitting that unites what’s real and what’s digital becomes ever more fine. Augmented reality is one of the most important elements in this shift, and as it often happens, art is one of the first disciplines to enter uncharted realms, acting as an revealing agent of what the near future holds for us. Coming generations will grow and learn enveloped in this mixed reality, and it will be commonplace. This project, at present time, is an example of the beginning of this shift, and for the future, a reminder of how vital our interactions with others and with nature are.
